Two existing Sports Complex fields will be outfitted with synthetic turf

When the Central Coast receives rain, more likely than not the Sports Complex fields are closed to meet facility requirements. This causes multiple game cancellations and reschedules. Sports game cancellations due to rain are based on weather reports and Cal Poly facility inspections.

Synthetic fields, also known as turf fields, is an artificial playing surface composed of monofilament fibers sewn into a polypropylene backing with a mixture of silica sand and rubber infill. Artificial turf surfaces are designed to closely match the look, feel and play of natural grass while enabling all-weather playability, low maintenance and unlimited playing time.
